Cadwyn Housing Association uses digital tech to help tenants realise their potential

Cadwyn Housing Association is ‘not for profit’ organisation with housing roots. Cardiff based, it provides good quality, affordable homes to people from all walks of life including single people, families, people who have previously been homeless, people from minority ethnic backgrounds and people on low incomes.

How we helped

Cadwyn Housing Association has been working in partnership with Digital Communities Wales (DCW) over the last 18 months. This support has included:

  • Membership of the Get Cardiff Online Partnership
  • Support to develop a digital strategy
  • Access to DCW loan equipment to support delivery
  • Training for staff and volunteers

Cadwyn also successfully applied for laptops and iPads which have used to provide training for tenants and members from their “Realise Your Potential” scheme, in order to get online.

Impact of our intervention

As a result of our intervention Cadwyn has been able to provide tenants and members of the community with digital inclusion support. Some tenants have made positive changes to their lifestyles as a result of this support, with many asking for sessions on how to use job search websites, as well as more general use such as online shopping.

Participants got a lot from the ‘Power of Video’ workshops which were well attended. Cadwyn hopes that by using this medium of communication they will reach out to other tenants and get them more involved in service provision as well as their local community.
