We Mind the Gap
Digital Communities Wales has partnered with organisations across Wales to help bridge the digital divide and support social mobility. A key example of this collaboration is their work with We Mind The Gap, a charity delivering life-changing programmes to young people who face significant barriers to opportunity.
Over the past seven years, Digital Communities Wales has supported We Mind The Gap in their Wrexham and Flintshire hubs, by providing digital tools such as Chromebooks, laptops and tailored training.
Some of the young people supported by We Mind The Gap had limited or no access to technology before joining the programmes. With the help of Digital Communities Wales, they have been able to engage in digital learning for the first time, improve their confidence, and start planning positive steps toward their future.
Craig, a welfare officer for the We Grow programme, shared: “It’s always been about giving back to young people and helping them grow. Digital skills are now a core part of that journey. With access to Chromebooks and a safe space to learn, they’re building confidence, connecting with others, and realising what’s possible for their futures.”
This collaboration demonstrates how targeted digital inclusion efforts can empower individuals, reduce inequality, and open doors to new opportunities.
