Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council
Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council (NPTCBC) provides training and support to foster carers, including connected person carers. Digital Communities Wales has worked closely with NPTCBC over several years to promote and embed digital inclusion, including training a number of Digital Champions—known locally as Digital Partners—across a range of council departments.
NPT Fostering and NPT Children’s Services have several trained Digital Partners embedded within Children’s Services, supporting both staff and foster carers. These Digital Partners promote IT literacy, embed digital skills within the Health and Social Care Diploma programmes, and support the use of Microsoft OneNote to structure e-portfolios. They have also championed digital inclusion across the fostering community by introducing and supporting a dedicated Digital Training Programme.
Russell Workman, Digital Inclusion Adviser at Digital Communities Wales, said:
“It has been exciting to work in partnership with Neath Port Talbot CBC to establish their Digital Partners programme. The impact of embedding digital inclusion in such a proactive way can be seen in the excellent work these Digital Partners do. This case study is a perfect example of the importance of actively promoting digital inclusion and the benefits of establishing a network of well-trained digital champions.”
