At Digital Communities Wales we’ve been working hard to develop online digital inclusion training courses, including webinars and digital drop-in sessions that might be vital to you and your service users going forward.

Digital Champions: Introduction & helping people to get online – 1 May 2025 | 10:00-11:30

This session will be delivered in English.

The session will provide you with inspiration and an introduction of what it means to be a Digital Champion.

This session will cover:

  • What is a digital champion?
  • What to expect from us.
  • Examples of inspiring activities.
  • What does success look like for you as a digital champion?
  • Considering the practicalities of how to support people to get online.
  • An overview of digital accessibility.
  • An overview of online safety.

Online Safety – 7 May 2025 | 10:00-11:30

This session will be delivered in English.

This session will introduce you to foundation online safety skills that you can use to help others build strong safe foundations of online safety while learning digital skills:

  • Keeping safe on websites.
  • Understanding suspicious emails.
  • Password safety.
  • Understanding online privacy.
  • Virus awareness.
  • Finding reliable information online.

Along with the training we will also provide you with resources you can use to learn more about online safety.

NHS Wales App: Helping People to Get Online – 15 May 2025 | 14:00-15:30

This session will be delivered in English. If you would like to access the session with a Welsh interpreter, please select yes on the registration form and we will make every effort to provide one.

A training session for members of staff and volunteers to support people to engage with the NHS Wales app.

Digital Communities Wales; Digital Confidence health and wellbeing (DCW) in partnership with DSPP are delivering a Roadshow of Digital Inclusion training sessions in order to support to staff and volunteers to help others to engage with the upcoming NHS Wales App.

The session will cover:

  • Helping people to get online and Understanding barriers to people engaging online
  • Skills and app features when engaging with the NHS Wales App
  • Using digital Accessibility features
  • Being safe online

Digital tools to support people living with dementia – 21 May 2025 | 14:00-15:30

This session will be hosted in Welsh.

Within this session we will overview how digital tools can support people living with dementia in a safe and secure way. This session has been developed with Effro who work with communities in Wales to change perceptions of dementia.

What you’ll take away from the session:

  • Discuss reminiscence activities and a multi-sensory approach.
  • Discuss the importance of keeping active, connected and independent.
  • Introduce digital tools to support independent living and well-being.

Digital and health literacy – 28 May 2025 | 10:00-11:30

This session will be delivered in English.

What you’ll take away from the session:

  • Practical strategies and tools to navigate the online world of health and well-being and consider what digital skills are needed to access healthcare online.
  • Introduce online health resources, including key NHS Wales and Public Health Wales websites.
  • Explore the transferable digital skills required to access health information online.
  • How to consciously access reliable health information and digital health tools.

Inspiring digital activities – 4 June 2025 | 10:00-11:30

This session will be delivered in English.

This session aims to introduce you to resources you can use to engage people with digital technology. The session will provide you with inspiration and ideas of how to coordinate inspiring digital activity sessions.

Welsh on the web – inspiring digital activities to use Welsh online – 4 June 2025 | 14:00-15:30

This session will be delivered in Welsh.

The aim of this session is to introduce you to the range of online Welsh resources available and to inspire Welsh and English speakers to use Welsh meaningfully on the web. During the session, we will:

  • Introduce ways to use Welsh when you are on the internet or using digital tools.
  • Demonstrate the resources available for entertainment, information and language support. 
  • Provide an overview of online resources to support Welsh learners.

In a world increasingly shaped by technological advancements, Artificial Intelligence (AI) stands at the forefront of innovation. But navigating AI, understanding its applications and knowing where to start, can be difficult for those with low digital confidence to understand.

In this session, we will:

  • Discuss creative uses for AI and its uses as an engaging digital tool for someone just starting out on their digital journey.
  • Explore AI and its uses in different settings, including productivity aids and health. 
  • Consider the implications of AI for online safety and critical thinking when accessing information online.
